MEMBERSHIP MEETING, 8/21/04
HILTON NORTHWEST, OKLA CITY, OK
President Mike McGrew called the meeting to order at 5:15 PM. Jerry Casey gave the invocation.
Bonnie Sher presented the minutes from the May meeting which were approved as read with a motion by Frank Belizzi and second by Jim Yeager.
Loretta Loomis gave the Treasurers Report which was approved as presented and requested that the bills for the weekend be paid with a motion by Jim Loomis and seconded by Dusty Brummitt.
Mike announced that we would need to select a new Eastern Director since Odie Tresner has retired. Jim Loomis and Jim Yeager agreed to share the position.
Mike also reminded us that the next meeting would be in Tulsa at the Holiday Inn, November 20. He will teach a basic electronics class.
Three prospective members were introduced, Matt Kelm, Terry Tripp and Keith Cook, and were sworn in as full members.
Harry stated he would not be at the November meeting as he was teaching an ALOA class out of state.
CD Lipscomb advised us that IR has developed a door lock installation class with a certification.
Mike announced that a new Sgt at Arms was needed and asked for volunteers Matt Kelm, one of our newest members volunteered and was accepted by the Membership.
Harry asked for feedback on the new location. Elaine Casey didn’t like the charges for local calls. Ed Humes was concerned about the access for unloading class materials and other properties from the parking area. Other comments were positive.
Although Rich Holtschue was absent, Mike was able to report for him that the website and newsletter were in process and hopefully would become a reality in fact fairly soon.
Harry congratulated Scott on a great job or organizing the Educational activities. Scott offered thanks to Dusty Brummitt and Mike Quinnett for their classes.
Frank offered thanks to Dusty, Harry, Jim Loomis, CD and others for their ongoing contributions.
Ed Humes won the Weekend Education drawing.
Kenny Lee and his lovely wife have moved to Blue Springs, MO to be near family. Rich Hall has moved out of state and Terry and Esther Tripp are also moving due to job relocations. We will miss them all.
Jerry and Lelia McNickle have a new granddaughter. Bert Parsons is the proud Dad.
Loretta thanked all of the ladies who worked all day making chemo caps for St Jude’s and other cancer facilities.
Jim Yeager announced that OPLA would hold it’s fall meeting featuring barbecue by Bob Hughes on Sept 25.
There will be an automotive class in San Antonio on Oct. 24, 2004.
With no further business, Mike adjourned us at 6:15 pm.
