The membership meeting of the Oklahoma Master Locksmith's Association was
called to order at
Vice President, Mike McGrew asked for a discussion regarding who should be
in charge of coordinating our "swap meet". Tommy Minick
suggested, 6 months in advance of the swap meet, that
we appoint someone to be in charge. It was discussed that we do not do a
"swap meet" on the same weekend that we are having our Distributor show, due to a conflict of interest.Mike
McGrew suggested to the membership that we change the weekend date of our next
meeting to the 1st weekend in May. This would not interfere with Mothers Day or
Memorial Day weekends. Motion was made to have our next meeting the 1st weekend
of May by Bill Reaves, and 2nd'd by Jim Loomis.
The treasurer's report was read by treaturer,
Loretta Loomis. Motion was made to accept the report by Frank Belizzi and 2nd'd by Lowell Roberts. Nelda Minick told us that we had 53 people in attendence
this weekend. There were 11 people signed up for the Sat. morning class taught
by Jerry Rice. The Sun. morning class on Key Codes to be taught by Jerry Rice
had 6 registered. The other Sun. morning class on the Mas
Hamilton class to be taught by Mr. Mike Oehlert had 7
signed up. The ladies craft class had 6. Lorretta
Loomis was acknowledged and thanked with the appreciation in doing the craft
class.
Mike McGrew stated that he was working with the Saddleback Inn for our
"2002" show in
Loretta Loomis asked the expenses for this weekend be approved for payment.
The motion was made to approve by Odie Tresner, and 2nd'd by Frank Bellizzi.
Motion carried.
Johnny Stewart stated that there were plenty video tapes for all members to
check out. Kenny Lee suggested that when the tapes are mailed back, we use a
VCR or education type mailing, and get a cheaper postage rate.
Newsletter editor, Paula Sands told us that the Locksmith Ledger had called
and asked for approval to print one of the articles from our Locktalk in the Ledger.
Treasurer Loretta Loomis asked for approval of the weekend expenses
to be paid. Motion was made the expenses be approved for payment for Odie Tresner, 2nd'd by Lowell
Roberts. Expenses were approved by the membership.
Nelda Minick introduced 2 new applicants for
membership. Applicant #1: Mr. Barry Elkins with Woodlands Locksmith Co., from
Springs, Texas, and Applicant #2, Mr. Kevin Harris, with Access Lock & Key,
from Shawnee, Kansas. Motion was made to accept these applicants into
membership with the OMLA by Frank Bellizzi, and 2nd'd
by Mike McGrew. Applicants were approved for membership and were sworn in by
president, Jerry Casey. Lowell Roberts welcomed our new members. Mike McGrew
thanked Barry Elkins for driving up from
Jerry Rice appealed to the members to let him know what they whould be interested in for future OMLA classes. It was
discussed that we try to get Mr. D.W. Dallas to come teach his class on
"Tricks of the Trade" Other people wre
discussed as teachers for a future class. It was suggested that we should try
to locate an instructor for at least 1-2 years in advance and schedule them.
Bill Reaves told us of the upcoming O.P.L.A. meeting in Eureka Springs,
Sept. 16th. They will be have several outstanding
classes and a distributor trade show. A bar-b-que was
scheduled for that Sat. eve.
Mike McGrew and Tommy Minick discussed the
possibility and cost of doing a photo membership picture ID badge. Lelia McNickle suggested that the
board members discuss that the association pay for these ID badges as a member
incentive. This was 2nd'd by Bill Reaves, motion carried.
Nelda Minick said that we should remember in our
thoughts and prayers all our members that had a loss in the family or had an
illness. Mr. Jim Rushing,
Four door prizes were won by our members. Prizes were donated by E.L. Rinehardt Co., and Lorretta
Loomis.
Motion was made that we adjourn by Odie Tresner, and 1nd'd by Frank Bellizzi
