MEMBERSHIP MEETING MINUTES
MAY 1, 2004
The Membership meeting was called to order by Mike McGrew, President at 5:45 p.m. Jerry Casey gave the invocation
Mike and Harry had no unfinished business to address.
Bonnie presented the previous meeting minutes for approval. Jerry Casey moved for approval. Jim Loomis seconded and the motion passed.
Loretta presented the Treasurer’s report. Johnny Stewart moved for approval. Gary Frame seconded and the motion passed.
There was no other unfinished business.
Mike presented the discussion from the Executive Board meeting regarding changing Rule 8 to allow the Executive Board to make changes in booth prices for trade shows rather than asking the Membership to vote on it each time. Motion passed.
He also announced that a Nominating Committee was needed to fill vacancies on the Executive Board. Harry nominated Jim Loomis. Ron Bada seconded.
Harry discussed rising costs and some ways to cope, including moving the August meeting and swap meet to be chaired by Jerry Casey to the Hilton Northwest in Oklahoma City.
Other discussion included the reactivation of the dues rules such as charging late fees after April 1.
Bonnie presented two new applicants for membership, John D Garvey and Loye Justin Towe. Jerry Casey moved to accept these members, with second by Frank Mahaffey. Motion passed and they were sworn in by Mike McGrew.
Loretta requested we pay the bills for the weekend. Motion made by Frank and seconded by Jerry Casey. Motion passed.
Gary Frame extended thanks to Harry for the successful weekend.
Jim Loomis extended his thanks to Nelda Minick and Lelia McNickle for all of their help in setting up and rearranging things this weekend.
OPLA will hold a meeting in June at the Holiday Inn Express in Van Buren, AR. John Reed will teach a class on Business on Saturday and Harry will teach IC cores on Sunday. Their Distributor Show will be September 25th in Eureka Springs. Bob Hughes will be doing his famous barbecue.
Loretta mentioned that our ladies craft class in August would be creating chemo caps as a service to cancer patients.
Door prizes were won and the motion to adjourn was made by Jerry Casey and seconded by Jim Loomis. Motion passed.
