MEMBERSHIP MEETING

Feb 7, 2004

President Mike McGrew called the meeting to order at 5:30 pm and delivered the invocation.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Neither Mike nor Harry had any.  Bonnie requested that the minutes as received by email be accepted.  Frank made the motion and Scott seconded and the minutes were accepted.

Loretta gave the financial report from the last minute.  Jim made the motion to accept, second by  Jerry and the motion passed.

 

NEW BUSINESS:  Mike will check on the status of Paula Sands, newsletter editor and Kenton Woodard.  Both have had personal issues which may prevent them continuing on in their positions.  C.D, mentioned that there was an online service for posting association activities, Locksmiths.com and others that may prove useful if Paula is not able to continue.  Harry also suggested a publicity committee be developed.

 

Harry said that he had received a call from ALOA  announcing that the Arkansas State Legislature was considering  placing a sales tax on service calls.

All vendors from this show have already signed contracts to be here next year.  Harry also reminded people about letting the front desk know we are part of the association.

 

We welcomed a new member,  Faron Jackson of AJ’s Lock Shop in Watts, Ok The motion to accept was made by C.D. Lipscomb and seconded by Frank.

 

Loretta asked that we pay the bills from his weekend. Jerry Casey made the motion which was seconded by Scott Hancock and passed.

The craft project at the next meeting will be a fleece jacket.

 

Scott Hancock said the lock-picking contest earned $20 and everyone had fun.  He has advertised the May classes, including the DAMES class taught by Harry.  Rich Hall’s friend Tom Rouane will teach a life safety class in August.

There will be a PRP test tomorrow with C.D. Lipscomb serving as proctor.

ALOA will be offering a new “shop certification” for those shops whose members have demonstrated a certain level of proficiency.

The drawing for the free weekend education class will be held in May.

 

Frank Belizzi offers thanks for the Board and all that they do.  He also mentioned the importance to the association of staying in the hotel where we are hosted.  He also extended thanks to Ken Perrson  for giving the free clinic Friday night.

Jim Loomis mentioned that the OPLA will hold it’s spring meeting in Eureka Springs, March 13-14.

 

MINK will hold its annual Marysville weekend March 26-27.

 

TLA will be the last weekend  in February and Hans Johnson the first weekend in March.

 

GOOD OF THE ORDER:

Jerry McNickle circulated a card for Craig Taft who is in the Soldiers Home in Winfield Kansa and not doing well.

Door prizes:

Hats Jeanne Campbell and Dave Peay.

Hardware Ron Bada and Bob  Christofferson.

Opening Tool- Scott Hancock.

 

Other winners were Mike McGrew, Janis Reves, Jerry McNickle, Nelda Minnick, Jim Yeager, Judy Peay, Frank Belizzi and Faron Jackson.

 

The meeting was adjourned.
