MEMBERSHIP MEETING

Crowne Plaza Hotel, Oklahoma City, OK

November 19, 2005

 

President Mike McGrew called the meeting to order at 5:30 pm and led the Pledge of Allegiance.  Jim Loomis gave the invocation.

 

Unfinished Business

Mike talked briefly about the legislation-surrounding locksmith licensing.

Harry talked about the Trade Show.  There will again be a free lunch and many distributors.  He also talked about the classes for May, which will be a two-day class on large and small IC Core in Tulsa.

Bonnie asked that the minutes from August be approved.  Motion was made by Lowell and seconded by Gary and passed.

Loretta presented the Financial Report and asked that it be approved.  Motion made by Randy Knox, seconded by Gary and passed.

Sgt at Arms, Matt Kelm announced that the conversion of tapes to DVD was almost complete and thanked John Ruperd for his help on the project.

 

New Business

Mike explained about the correction of Rule # 8.  He also announced the Board’s decision to work with and provide expenses up to $500 to Clint Parsons for legal work regarding the licensing of locksmiths.

Harry had no new business.

Bonnie introduced a prospective member, Daniel Walter, who was voted in as an apprentice.

Loretta asked that bills be paid.  Motion made by Randy Knox, second by Harry, passed.

Mike talked about the website and the need to possibly change the name.  John Ruperd may know someone who can help work the web page.

He also noted that classes in May would be IC Core.  Lowell will do electronics/access control in August.

Jim thanked Harry for today’s class.  He also mentioned that OPLA would have Randy Means to teach in March in Eureka Springs.  He also talked about OPLA members using our DVD library rather than start a new one.  Our members agreed to that.

Lowell led the election and swearing in of officers: Pres-Mike McGrew, Vice Pres Harry Sher, Secretary Bonnie Sher, Treasurer Loretta Loomis, Sgt of Arms Matt Kelm and David Wofford for Newsletter Editor.  John Ruperd agreed to be Education Director.

Lowell and Charles discussed the upcoming legislation and asked members to write to legislators in support.  They also showed Charles on a television newscast.

 

Good of the Order

Randy Knox won the weekend education.  Mary Ann Phillips, Randy Knox, John Ruperd, Ron Bada, Mr. & Mrs. Bartram, Gary Frame and Loretta Loomis won door prizes.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:30 pm.
