Saturday, November 18, 2000 Meeting Minutes

The membership meeting of the Oklahoma Master Locksmith's Association was called to order at 7:00 p.m. and invocation was given by our President, Jerry Casey.

Secretary Nelda Minick called the Roll of all the Association officers and directors. Officers present were: Jerry Casey, Mike McGrew, Nelda Minick, Loretta Loomis, Johnny Stewart, Lowell Roberts, Jerry Rice, Frank Bellizzi and Gary Frame. Paula Sands and Odie Tresner were absent.

Jerry Casey told the membership that Odie Tresner’s wife, Phyllis, was in the hospital. Secretary Nelda Minick made the motion that our previous membership meeting minutes of August 19, 2000, be approved as previously printed in our Locktalk newsletter. Motion was 2nd’d by Randy Knox.

NEW BUSINESS

Treasurer Loretta Loomis asked that the expenses for the weekend be approved for payment. Motion to approve expenses for payment was made and 2nd’d.

President Jerry Casey asked that the Association's 3 directors be approved for office again for the upcoming year. Motion was made the accept our directors by Jim Loomis, 2nd’d by Kevin Harris. Directors Gary Frame and Frank Bellizzi were sworn in by our President. Director Odie Tresner will be sworn in at our next meeting, as he was absent.

The need for a new Education Chairman was discussed by the Association. Mr. Charles Hudacek graciously accepted the appointment as our new education chairman.

Nelda Minick read applications of 3 new applicants for membership in our association. These applicants were Frank Tapp, Jeffrey Swick and Robert Cooper all of Courtesy Key and Safe Company in Wichita, KS.

Loretta Loomis gave our financial report. Motion was made to accept the report by Lowell Roberts, 2nd’d by Jerry Rice.

Our current Education Chairman, Jerry Rice, complimented the great classes that we had this Saturday. A future class on Arrow Try Keys was discussed for our February meeting. This class would be given by Mr. David Parrott. Classes to be given by Mr. D.W. Dallas were also discussed for February. Mr. Dallas said he could give us a safe class with another 1/2 day class on "Tricks of the Trade". A future class on Forensic Locksmithing to be given by Mr. Jim Glazier was also discussed.

Frank Bellizzi welcomed the 3 new members to our Association and also thanked Charles Hudecek for accepting the education chairmanship.

Motion was made by Lowell Roberts that the membership accept Jack Alt as a Life Member. Motion was 2nd’d by Lelia McNickle. Jack Alt is now our newest Life Member.

John Campbell accepted the appointment as the Chairman for our Association Swap Meet to be held in Tulsa, OK in August, 2001. Lelia McNickle along with Charles Hudacek discussed with the membership the feasibility and member interest in having another PRP class for Locksmith certification. There are 5 categories in the PRP classes with the cost of $100.00 for members and $180.00 for non-members. Study guides are available. The tests for the class would be mandatory with 2 electives.

Mike McGrew showed the membership 2 new projectors and easels that were purchased by the Association to be used for future classes.

Good of the Order

Nelda Minick asked that we keep all those who have had illness and loss of friends and loved ones in our prayers. C.D. Lipscomb lost 2 family members and Odie Tresner’s wife, Phyllis, has been ill and in the hospital. All our prayers go out to both these great people.

There were 8 door prizes donated by Tommy & Nelda Minick, Loretta Loomis, Lowell Roberts and Joy Bellizzi. Winners of the door prizes were: Regina Stewart, Elaine Casey, Randy Knox, Robert Cooper, Jim Loomis, Jerry Casey and Nelda Minick.

The drawing for the Weekend’s Class Winner was won by Kevin Harris.

Our next membership meeting will be held in Tulsa, OK at the Holiday Inn Select, 5000 East Skelly Drive, on February 17, 2000.

Motion was made to adjourn by Lowell Roberts, and 2nd’d by Randy Knox.
