The
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Vice Pres., Harry Sher stated that our
Nelda asked that the previous Aug. 17th minutes be approved, but amended due
to a printing error.
Minutes should have read, "A signed contract had been obtained from
E.L. Reinhart for our Feb. exhibitor show, and the contract for the Zip Lock
Co. was still pending." Also a correction to the Steve Young raffle was
amended. Minutes should have read, "that ALL
proceeds from this raffle were donated to our association by Steve."
Motion was made to approve the minutes as amended by Jim Loomis, and 2nd'd by
Gary Frame. Motion carried. Mike explained about his previous heart attack to
all our concerned members present.
NEW BUSINESS
Harry introduced C.D. Lipscomb, instructor and ALOA Director. Harry said
that there would be a seminar at our next Feb. show given by Ken Peterson with
Peterson Tools Inc., Inventor of the "Pro One" pick. This will be a
tubular lock picking class. Class will be on Fri. evening after the executive
board meeting, at approximately
Nelda read 2 applications for membership to the members present. Applicants
were: John Ruperd, Midwest Locksmith,
Loretta asked that we approve bills for pmt. for this weekend. Motion was
made by Ken Jordan, and 2nd'd by Tommy Minick. Motion
carried. Johnny Stewart stated that when we send payment for video rental the
checks needed to be made payable to Okla. Master Locksmith Association.
Paula Sands asked that anyone with new zip code info, name or address
changes please contact her with the corrections. Jerry Casey asked that we all
help our new education chairman, Scott Hancock, with any new ideas of types of
classes.
Scott Hancock, presented Certificates of
Appreciation to our weekend instructors, C.D. Lipscomb, Mark Anderson, and
Tommy Minick. Scott stated that there would not be
any educational classes in Feb. during the exhibitor show, but we would have
new ones at the May, '03 meeting. Harry Sher, asked for a show of hands for those interested in an ALOA
class for studying for the certification of the PRP locksmith program. Class
would include locksmith terminology. C.D. Lipscomb told the membership to
contact Mary May at ALOA for any information we might need from ALOA.
GOOD OF THE ORDER
C.D. Lipscomb discussed many ideas regarding our association affiliating
with ALOA and all the advantages that ALOA could help us with in our
professional industry. Subjects discussed were; the ALOA Affiliate Program,
Legislation, the Right to Repair Act, and how ALOA could help us with the
licensing laws regarding the locksmithing industry.
C.D. also gave the advantages, help, and opportunities that our association
could gain by affiliating with ALOA. Input in legislation, Keynotes Magazine,
promoting our trade shows, mailings, scholarships, and many other
opportunities. Our president, Mike McGrew brought the vote to the membership
that we elect to become affiliated with ALOA. The motion carried by our majority
membership that the Okla. Master Locksmith will be affiliated with ALOA.
Jerry & Lelia McNickle's
grandson was in a serious accident. Jackie Roberts was still having several
health problems.
Randy Knox told the membership that Freightliner Co., Inc. would be
represented at our upcoming exhibitor show.
Our education weekend winner was, Richard Holtzschue.
DOOR PRIZES
Thanks to Loretta Loomis, Mark Anderson, C.D. Lipscomb, and the OMLA Video
Library for their donations of door prizes. Winners were: Bonnie Sher, Elaine Casey, Jim Loomis, Regena
Stewart, Harry Sher, Nelda Minick,
Gloria & Richard Holtzschue.
