The November 15, 2003 Membership Meeting of the Oklahoma Master Locksmith Association was held at the Saddleback Inn, SW 34th & Meridian in Okla. City, OK.

This meeting was called to order at 5:35 p.m. by our president, Mike McGrew. The invocation was given. Secretary Nelda Minick called the roll of all officers and directors. Those present were: Mike McGrew, Harry Sher, Nelda Minick, Loretta Loomis, Johnny Stewart, Paula Sands, Scott Hancock, Frank Bellizzi, and Odie Tresner. Those absent were: Jerry Casey and Gary Frame.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

Nelda Minick asked that the precious membership meeting minutes be approved as printed in our Locktalk newsletter. Motion was made and 2nd'd by Sam Ebersole, and Jim Loomis. Loretta Loomis, Treasurer, gave our financial report. Loretta also asked that the finacial report be approved. Motion was made and 2nd'd by Sam Ebersole and Odie Tresner. Loretta also encourages all of us to start coming to our educational classes.

NEW BUSINESS:

Mike discussed our low attendance and the cost of coming to classes. The classes were very reasonable in cost. "Why were we not having better attencance in these classes?" Jim Loomis asked that we sytart a "calling committee" to try to notify more of our membership before each meeting in the future. Jim and Scott Hancock will work on this committee.

Harry Sher discussed our upcoming "trade show" in Feb., 2004. Harry also mentioned our Vender participation and those that had already signed contracts for Feb. Ken Perrson with Peterson Tools would do a Friday evening seminar for us. Also a PRP testing class would be for that Sunday morning. Harry also discussed classes for our May '04 meeting. He would be glad to do a class on "Defense Against Methods of Entry". Harry also stated that we might be able to have a Sunday class on Master Keying Software. Also C.D. Lipscomb might teach an automotive class. There would be a "Pier Auto" class session on the 1st week of April 2004 by Lockmasters at the Holiday Inn near the airport. Letters and phone calls of notification will be sent in hopes of getting better participation. A list of classes will be published in our next newsletter. C.D. Lipscomb mentioned the option of members receiving the Locktalk newsletter by e-mail vs the USPS to help defer some of the cost of mailing each newsletter. C.D. also stated that our newsletter is a very important source of information for everyone and it should be shared by e-mail with all our other locksmith associations and with ALOA. Lowell Roberts agreed that e-mailing was a good source. Mike and Paula also mentioned sending fliers before our next Feb. meeting. Also publicity would help. Scott Hancock will help with internet notices.

Nelda read the membership application for David Taylor. Mr. Taylor was voted by the membership into our association by Acclamation, and was sworn in by president, Mike McGrew.

Loretta Loomis asked that all our bills for this weekend be approved for payment. Motion was made and 2nd'd to pay our bills and expenses for the weekend.

Scott Hancock discussed having a "Lock Picking"  contest for our upcomming meeting and having Radio and Television cover the advertising and publicity for this event. Other p9ossibilities for future classes were a Cobra class, and Amsec class by Howard Johnsen Co., an electronic safe work & serving class by Elmer Howard and also maybe an IC Core class.

Kenny Lee read the new slate of officers for the next year. Those were as follows: President, Mike McGrew; Vice President, Harry Sher; Secretary, Bonnie Sher; Stg. at Arms, Kenton Woodard; and Newsletter Editor, Paula Sands. Nominations were open from the floor, but there were none. This slate of office applicants were approved by Acclamation. Motion was made and 2nd'd by Same Ebersole and Odie Tresner. The new officers were all sworn in by Lowell Roberts, and were congratulated as our new officers by r. Roberts. Mike McGrew thanked Jim Loomis, Lowell Roberts and Kenny Lee for their help with this new slate of officers.

Odie Tresner announced to all pr4sent that he was retiring soon. Our Educational Weekend Winer was Faron Jackson, a new pending applicant for membership.

Everyone present acknowledged their appreciation to all those that donated door prizes this weekend. Congratulations to all our lucky winners.

GOOD OF THE ORDER:

Mike read a "thank you" card from Nelda Minick to all the many friends and locksmiths that sent her flowers, cards, and prayers of condolences in the loss of her husband, Tommy. Also one of long time members Mr. Pat Gray had passed away recently. Our condolences to his wife, Betty.

C.D. Lipscomb discussed legislation regarding healthcare insurance and the bill #HR660, the Associational Health Care Act and also the motor vehicle "Right to Repair Act" bill. C.D. discussed what these bills would be to us as local locksmiths in the industry. More information regarding nation wide legislation is available from ALOA's website. C.D. also said taht "the locksmithing industry is changing and new rules and regulation would be extensive."

Motion was made and 2nd'd to adjourn this membership meeting. Mtg. adjourned at 7:25 pm.

The next meeting of the Oklahoma Master Locksmith Association will be the 1st weekend of Feb. 2004 at the Saddleback Inn, Oklahoma City, OK.
