General Membership Meeting

Biltmore Hotel in OKC, OK.

August 15th, 2008

 

The meeting was called to order at 5:30 PM.  Frank Bellizzi led the benediction, and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Officers present were:  Pres-Mike McGrew, VP-Clarence Weber, Sec-Mary Osborne, Treas-Loretta Loomis, S-at-A-Matt Kelm, Directors-Jim Loomis, Frank Bellizzi, Legis-Charles Hudecek, Lowell Roberts.

Officers absent were:  Editor-Dave Wofford, Ed-John Ruperd, PP-Jerry Casey, Dir C-Gary Frame.

 

OLD BUSINESS

 

President - Mike McGrew – Nothing at present

Vice-President - Clarence Weber –Nothing at this time

Secretary – Mary Osborne – the minutes were passed out and reviewed (also available on the website)  Motion to approve by Frank and seconded by Lowell.  Motion carried.

Treasurer – Loretta Loomis – treasurer’s report handed out and reviewed.  Motion to approve report by Brad and seconded by Dusty Brummitt.  Motion carried.

Past-President – Jerry Casey – not present

Sargeant-at-Arms – Matt Kelm – nothing at this time

Editor – Dave Wofford – not present

Education Dir. – John Ruperd – not present

Director, West – Frank Bellizzi – nothing at this time

Director, Central – Gary Frame – not present

Director, East – Jim Loomis – nothing to present at this time

Legislative Liaison – Lowell Roberts – nothing at this time

Education & Training Liaison – Charles Hudecek – networking has been very successful (both for the Association and for our members)  Buddy D. Lock is becoming a highly recognized, loved, and respected symbol for us. (OMLA)

 

NEW BUSINESS

 

President - Mike McGrew – distributor show and our meetings in Tulsa in 2011 may need to have a new home due to our growth.  We will be looking into this matter.

Vice-President - Clarence Weber –Nothing at this time

Secretary – Mary Osborne – two new applications were read.  The candidates were introduced, escorted from the room, and a short discussion followed.  Motion to approve for membership by Frank and seconded by Lowell.  Motion passed, candidates were brought back into the room,  and the new members were sworn in by the President and greeted by the members.

Treasurer – Loretta Loomis – requested approval for payment of this weekend’s bills.  Motion to pay by Jackie Roberts and seconded by Brad Osborne.  Motion passed unanimously. (no one wanted to open their checkbook!)

Past-President – Jerry Casey – not present

Sargeant-at-Arms – Matt Kelm – nothing at this time

Editor – Dave Wofford – not present (note was made his computer was down due to power surge and no newletter had been generated since last meeting)

Education Dir. – John Ruperd – not present – Three classes are being scheduled for the November meeting.  A continuous hinge class by R2, a class on Business Law by Clint Parsons, and a class on OK Licensing Updates.  Registration forms will be available from the website.  Please get them to Mary Osborne, Secretary, early!

Legislative Liaison – Lowell Roberts – nothing at this time

Education & Training Liaison – Charles Hudecek – New NFPA rules are being enforced by the State Fire Marshall’s Office.  If you are not familiar with them, please take time to study the changes.  The State Health Department has hire 6 new enforcement officers who will spend a portion of their time on Locksmith enforcement.  Licensing frequency will be on the agenda again at the A&LI Advisory Board.  Photo IDs are being discussed at the State Health Department again.

 

GOOD OF THE ORDER

 

Director, East – Jim Loomis – OPLA will be held on September 13th, 2008 (see website for details) with a trade show and BBQ.  We will be holding our annual swap meet in the next room after the meeting.

Education & Training Liaison – Charles Hudecek – new updated license rules are out.

Sargeant-at-Arms – Matt Kelm – Thanks to Ashley Talton from Ingersoll-Rand for the door closers and several decks of playing cards for our door prizes tonight.  Phillip Sanderson, of IDN Acme suffered a Kidney stone attack and had to be taken to the Hospital Saturday morning.

 

Motion to adjourn by Lowell Roberts and seconded by Dusty Brummitt.  Motion passed.
