Data remaining from previous meetings

A Survey was taken of OMLA Members, Non - OMLA Locksmith Members, Institutional Locksmiths, and Auto Locksmiths concurring a sub - licensure of persons who unlock (open) autos only, as directed by the Advisory Board.
Of the 60 personnel contacted, only 1 thought to allow a sub – licensure of Auto - Openers was a good idea, but only after the Dept. Of Health hired 4 to 6 additional enforcement officers.
The Advisory Board Dismissed the matter as closed.

Please be ready to make response if asked, as we will continue to seek opinions on various subjects pertaining to our Industry.  This is very important!!

 LEGISLATIVE HIGHLIGHTS

As seems usual, there were special interest groups attempting to slip in changes to the legislation just prior to the end of the session.  The changes would have allowed anyone who sold lumber and had a state sales tax permit to be exempt from the licensing requirements.  We tried to reason with them to no avail so the bill never made it through the House and it died with the end of the session.  There were good things in the bill that we lost because of it but we believe it was the best thing to do.  We will be trying to work with the interested parties to get things worked out in time for the next session.  We'll keep you up-dated as things proceed.
