approve the minutes of last month’s meeting. they were
approved.
And the board moved quickly
into review of new company's applications for licensure.
There were 9 companies listed
for approval.
Three of the companies were
represented at the meeting and all were approved.
There was one company set for
review separately, but the company representative was not present at the
meeting, so he was denied licensure.
The board moved right on to
the next issue on the agenda.
This was discussing possible
action concerning company's responsibility under the Alarm and Locksmith Industry
Regulations and Act.
Much of the discussion was on
alarm company's telling customers that their current provider had gone out of
business, just so they could convert the customer over to their service.
There was a lengthy
discussion between Rick Brown & Matt Schue over
weather the Board will be used as a hearing body on these issues.
Bob Carol asked questions about
applicants who
commit crimes or are arrested? Matt Schue said his
office has a direct line to the OSBI & FBI, and if any one in the industry
is arrested or charged with a crime, they would know about it!
A motion was made by the
board to consider action on any company that commits fraud, and that any such
action would have to go before the board for review! The motion passed.
There was a motion to change
the language in
the act under section 205-3-3-E & I & II dealing with alarm applicants. It was tabled for later discussion.
Then the board moved on to
New Issues.
Matt Schue
discussed Senate Bill 1852. This deals
with standardizing all State fire codes for all cities.
This bill has not come to
life yet, but it is under consideration.
Then the board moved to old
business.
Matt Schue
& Rick Brown had a lengthy discussion on trainees
responsibilities on a job site, and it was agreed that trainees could hang
devices, run wire, etc. under DIRECT supervision, but they were not allowed to
power up any system, alarm, access control, CCTV!
The board moved to discussion
from the general public.
Mike Nelson is still pushing to allow trainees
to install wire & devices with out direct supervision. But many in the room
are against the idea and do not want this to be allowed!
Rick Brown asked Dusty Brummitt if he had heard anything more on the Fire Marshals
trying to get control over our industry. He was told nothing else had been
heard, and Matt Schue confirmed there was nothing
pending.
The board set the next meeting for
