The Alarm and Locksmith Advisory Board met
on December 5 th, 2007 at 0859 am. Members present were:
James Perry, Mike Nelson, Matt Schue, Drake McDannold, LaRue Medders, and Rick
Brown.

Licensure consideration and were approved:

The Following Items were Discussed:
b) Is the Alarm and Locksmith Advisory Committee responsible for educating the
public about the Alarm and Locksmith Industry : Answer at this time is no
c) A possible sub-license for cable installers : This will effect the Burg and
Fire industry, as well as Access Control, CCTV, and Nurse Call. Because of
concerns, the Advisory Committee has requested that all Associations survey
their members for a consensus on this subject for the next Advisory Committee
board meeting in January.

A second meeting took place on
5 December 2007 at the NECA Chapter HQ,s in OKC, OK.
Twp subjects were discussed: The first
one was a general discussion on SB45 and possible changes to that bill and how
to bring it back to the Senate and House for a vote.
The second discussion was about SB45 Section 11 section 1800.3 para 6
specifically. This has to do with the Lumber yards being exempted from the
Alarm and Locksmith Industry Act. The Paragraph reads:
“Locksmithing industry activities of persons primarily engaged in selling lumber
and other building materials who hold a sale tax permit as a group one vendor
authorized to engage in business within this state pursuant to Sections 1363 and
1364 of the Oklahoma Sale Tax Code”.
Talks are continuing.
