April 2009 Alarm and Locksmith Advisory Board Meeting

The meeting was held in room#806 at OKHD on 4/01/2009.
The meeting was called to order by Rick Brown at
9:10 am. The board members who were present for the meeting : LaRue Medders, Bob Carroll, Mike Nelson, Steve York, Matt Schue, Rick Brown, and Paul Juneau.  James Perry was absent.
Role was called and the board moved quickly to the approval of the minutes for the
March 4, 2009 meeting.   The Minutes were approved.
Rick Brown moved right into the review of new company applications.
There was 10 companies up for review and approval.  All were approved , except one. Matt Schue made a motion that the one company be held for further review, and it was held for further review of their company back ground and true location!
Then Rick Brown moved right into discussion & possible action concerning rule changes.
The discussion started about education, and since the board hade removed it from the rules, they were looking at working on putting education back in to the rules and the use of specific education companies.
There was a good bit of discussion on the problems of prerequisites for education companies.  There was also a good bit of discussion on the benefits of education.
The discussion changed to the subject of the Electricians.
The subject was brought up on seeing if the rule could be changed to put more control on the electricians.
A motion was made to establish a committee to define the rules as they deal with electricians.
The board agreed and appointed Paul Juneau  to set up the committee to work on rule changes. ( for the electricians)
There was considerable discussion on past mistakes by the board as to their dealing with electricians and how they let it get out of hand, but the board agreed to wait till July. They want see if the
CIB keeps its word about the changes to their regulations & rules for the electricians.
The board then moved into new issues.
There were none, so they moved on to old issues.
Questions were raised about applicants checking all the boxes on the application if they did not test for all of them.
Matt Schue addressed the board and told them that if a applicant did not test for each category within 30 days, the categorys they did not test for would be dropped form their license!
That ended the old issues and the board moved to discussion from the general public.
There was none.
Rick Brown moved for adjournment .
They set the date for the next meeting for
May 6,2009 in room #806 OKDH.
The meeting was adjourned at
