The July 2009 meeting of the Alarm & Locksmith Industry
Advisory Board
The meeting was held on
The meeting was called to order by Rick
Brown at
Seven board members present for this meeting, and they were: Rick Brown , Matt Schue , Bob Carol , Steve York ,
Drake McDonald , Ronald Edwards , Ed
Humes. Paul
Juneau and James Perry were absent.
Rick moved right into the approval of last month’s minutes, and
they were approved.
The board went directly to the Review of New Company Applications.
There were six companies up for review. All were approved for licensure except one,
Fire Engineering Company, Inc.
was tabled for further review.
The Board moved into Discussion and possible action concerning
language changes to the Alarm & Locksmith
Industry Regulations.
Rick turned the floor over to Matt Schue
for discussion and Matt began to talk about the rewording of the rules concerning
the
Electrical Industry. Matt wants to put wording in the rules
that in complete detail explain what the Electricians are allowed to do,
and what they are NOT allowed to do as to the inspection of
Alarm & Fire Systems. There was a
lengthy discussion by the board
on this issue. Then
Matt moved on the possible action on the out of State
Companies putting in bids for jobs in
The board is looking at a possible 6 month moratorium
on all out of State Companies before they can be
licensed and be able
to bid on jobs in our State.
They are also looking at requiring out-of-State companies to have a
manager living in
they are also looking at requiring the Manager to
live within a specified distance from the job site.
The board was also looking at making all out-of-State companies
who apply for a license in OK to submit a
affidavit on all current
and future jobs in
After some discussion from the board on this issue, Rick took
control of the meeting again and moved on to New Issues. And there were none.
Rick moved to Old issues, and there were none either.
The board moved to discussion from the General
Public.
The issue of
with
Ed Humes brought up the matter of
scammer locksmiths in the Edmond Yellow Book.
Several of the addresses in the book had already
had been checked out, and were found to be phony!
Mat was given a copy of the phone book so they could follow up on
this matter. Ed said that he was going
to meet with a rep. from
Yellow Book later and point out all the phony addresses to
them.
After a short discussion on this issue, Rick Brown said the
next meeting would be on August 5th at
point Rick called for adjournment.
