A note from your President                                    November 14th, 2009

To my Association and fellow Locksmiths,

As I type this letter, I have one week left in office.  I have elected to step down after 8 years as your President and 2 years as Vice President, because I believe fresh leadership is always healthy, and I’ve been there long enough.  It’s time for new leadership and fresh ideas.

Next Saturday at our general business meeting, new officers will be elected, and my tour will end.  Serving this Association has been one of the greatest honors of my life and I thank you for your faith and trust in my abilities to lead you.  To say it’s been an honor to serve as your President would be an understatement.  These last 10 years, I’ve had the honor to be an integral part of each annual Distributor’s Show and I can’t begin to tell you what a joy it’s been getting to know, and work with, our distributors and our members.  We all depend on our Distributors and they are faithful to serve us well.

We’ve seen many changes in our industry with State Licensing and financial challenges.  We’ve been through both good and difficult times.  I’ve watched many of our younger members mature and become responsible leaders.  It’s comforting to know the future of our Association will be left to competent hands.  I can honestly say this Association has given me far more than I’ve been able to give back.

In February, our Association will celebrate 40 years of service to our industry.  We can all be proud of what this Association has and will accomplish in the years ahead.  My desire would be for each of you to stay focused on insuring the healthy growth and prosperity of the Oklahoma Master Locksmith Association.

I’ve agreed to serve as your editor for the next term, because I enjoy doing the website and want to continue serving this great Association.

As many of you know, I’m currently serving as a City Councilman in my hometown of Bartlesville.  This is allowing me to meet and work with State officials and Legislators on a regular basis.  I hope this will have positive effects for our Association and Industry in the years to come.  It proves the point we can all serve in some capacity wherever we are or what we’re doing.  May God bless you all richly and keep you safe.

With deepest respect and gratitude,

Your President, Mike McGrew, CRL
